Bio: a.k.a. - "Who is this guy
and
why should I care?"
Dear
Friend,
I
find myself with a bit of a dilemma...
After
spending almost 15 years in the business of promoting #1 Best-Selling
Authors and Legends in their fields - I now find myself in the
position of having to tell you about who I am, and promoting myself.
You
see, I was always the guy wearing the “promoter hat”
- but, acting more like a business mad scientist... working behind
the scenes in the laboratory, mixing up the latest batch of marketing
experiments.
Now,
I’m wearing the “author hat” - and the big problem
with that is: I know the “dirty little secrets”
about many people who are in the “guru” business.
You know, the experts who are more than willing to tell you what
you should be doing in your business - who haven't actually built
and run one.
Personally,
I’m a died-in-wool, true-to-the-core entrepreneur. I love
to take an idea and turn it into a thriving business... to create
something from nothing. It’s what I do... and have worked
hard at it for over 35 years. So, when I talk to you about business
- I can do so in complete, good conscience.
I’ve
worked very hard... studied hard (had the good fortune to work
directly with the legends in business training, growth, motivation,
and marketing)... made lots of mistakes... and stubbed my business
toe many more times than I care to recall. I’m not here
to tell you how great I am... or to claim that I’m a “guru”
of any kind (not for me to decide) - but, I am here to tell you
that I may be in a unique position to help you increase the profits
and satisfaction you get from your business.
Doing
It Is The Key
The
people that I can call my mentors over the years - the ones that
have truly helped me... and that were able to impart great wisdom
and have significant impact on my success - have all themselves
been entrepreneurs, have done what they teach others about, or
have actually run their own business.
The
real gurus are few and far between. Thankfully, I’ve made
it my business to seek them out - and then, to work on projects
directly with a good number of them. Being exposed to all this
has had a tremendous positive impact on me. But, along the way,
I found that there was a huge void of missing information about
alternative ways to generate business and profits that is easily
available... easy to implement - and I was perhaps uniquely qualified
to fill that void.
That
led to the writing of my new book with Jay Conrad Levinson, Guerrilla
Profits.
I’m
inclined to tell you the real story (biography) about how I came
to be in this position (as opposed to the edited version of my
bio) - but the only thing that seems to make sense is to give
you a bit of both, perhaps with the “official” version
clearly marked.

Now,
here’s a bit of the “real story” - the unofficial
bio:
You
know how when you’re a kid, it’s likely that you picked
some admirable future occupation that you’d “grow
up to be?” Maybe it was “doctor,” or “fireman,”
or “veterinarian.” Well for me, my ideal career path
would have been “treasure diver.”
I know... not exactly a lot of openings in the field. But, it
most suited my sense of adventure and desire for profits at the
same time.
At
that same young age, I found that business was another way to
seek treasure. I was astounded that you could show someone something...
ask them to buy it... and most likely, they would (of course,
I had the “kid advantage” going for me). Then it was
simply, “wash, rinse, and repeat” - in other words,
you can have as much as you want - by simply repeating a process
that works.
In
my quest for “treasure” (profits) - I discovered the
precious metals and gems business while in college (so... somewhat
related to treasure - at least I was dealing in similar loot).
From there, a whole series of different businesses (and different
industries) - over several decades - that ranged from retail...
to wholesale... to manufacturing... to services... to participation
deals in developing businesses.
This
vast collection of diverse business experiences - plus working
directly with legends in business training, growth, motivation,
and marketing - has given me a unique perspective into how businesses
can generate new business and profits.
So,
What does this all have to do with you?
And, more importantly - Why should you care?
Now,
I find myself in the business of helping you seek the “hidden
treasure” in your business.
And,
the biggest barrier to my being able to help you - comes from
your own resistance to new ideas and new thinking. One way to
get beyond this is to ask yourself, “Am I satisfied
with my current results?” If the answer is “no”
- then you may want to consider being open to alternatives you
might not have tried (or implemented) in your business yet.
Look
at it from an “R.O.I.” (return on investment) perspective:
If I can help you achieve a multiple of the investment you make
with me to achieve it - then, isn’t that a justified effort?
So,
it all depends on you...
